Code White-Lightning MOD EAP Immediate Steps

Investigate

  • Is there lightning in the area? Meet with Aquatics (510) and monitor the weather on their weather monitoring service.
  • Verify if there is a severe weather warning issued by the National Weather Services.

Communicate

  • Switch to ALL CALL and announce a Code White-Lighting.
    • Guest Services will need to be prepared for Guest opportunities.
    • Additional leadership should be called to the waterpark to assist with possible crowd control measures.
  • If impending weather causes the Lodge to go into a Code Down as well, ALL CALL the Lodge and announce a Code Down due to Code White-Lightning and follow evacuation procedures outlined in the Code Down Standard Operating Procedures

React

  • Any attraction that exits the building will need to be closed if lightning is within 5 miles of the Lodge.  If it is an attraction that goes into a body of water, that slide can be turned off so Guests can still swim in the pool.
  • The outdoor pool and deck will need to be cleared if in operation and any other outdoor area open to Guest. Ensure a Pack Member stands at any door leading to these areas so no one can access the open deck.
  • If closures are expected for an extended period, proceed to escalated MOD steps Click Here
