Code 1, 2 or 3 MOD EAP Immediate Steps

Investigate

  • If the injury is minor and there is a first aid kit nearby, assist Guest with the injury.
  • Does someone appear to have a moderate or major life-threatening emergency?
    • Note any symptoms Guest/Pack member presents with.
    • Is there anything dangerous surrounding the scene?

Communicate

  • If it is deemed an injury that only requires minor first aid treatment (Code 1) and you do not have a first aid kit, call a Code 1 on the radio and state your location.
  • For an injury that requires medical attention beyond minor first aid (Code 2) call Aquatics (510) on their channel letting them know you have a Code 2 and state your location.
  • If it is a serious or life-threatening emergency (Code 3) call 911.  On the ALL CALL channel call out a Code 3 and state your location.
    • Verify Aquatics is responding.

React

  • If there is anything making the scene unsafe (gas, glass, fire, electrical, are a few examples) remain at a safe distance until advanced medical arrives.
  • Coordinate and assist with crowd control by directing other Guests away from the serious emergency and maintain the privacy of the affected party to the extent possible.
  • Ensure proper reports are conducted.  For all minor injuries a Code 1 report is complete, moderate/major injuries an Incident Report completed.
  • Assist EMS with arriving to the correct location.  Click Here for escalated MOD steps.
